Friendship Lunches
Friendship Lunches are a much-loved ministry within our church family, offering fellowship, friendship, and support. Unlike many other church groups, attendance is by invitation, enabling us to create a warm and welcoming environment for those who may particularly benefit from companionship and connection.
When someone in our church family becomes widowed or joins the church as a single person, they may be invited to join the Friendship Lunch guest list once they have had time to settle into church life. Due to the popularity of the lunches and our limited capacity, we maintain a reserve list and there can be a waiting period before a place becomes available.

The ministry began in the 1990s when four couples established the initiative. Since then, several dedicated teams have had the privilege of continuing this valuable work, faithfully serving our guests for many years.

Monthly Gathering
Friendship Lunch takes place on the first Sunday of every month in the church hall. Up to 36 people gather together to enjoy a freshly prepared two-course meal, cooked and served by our volunteer team from the church kitchen. Most of our guests are in their eighties and nineties, and the lunches provide an important opportunity to share conversation, friendship, and encouragement around the table.
The ministry is supported by a kitchen team of four to six volunteers and a hosting team of six, with four hosts sitting and dining alongside our guests. The emphasis is not simply on providing a meal, but on creating a welcoming atmosphere where friendships can flourish and everyone feels valued and connected.
Friendship Lunches continue to bring great joy to both our guests and those who serve, reflecting the love, care, and fellowship that are at the heart of our church community.
